It was the epoch of king Minos, the son of Zeus, and the mortal Europa.
He reigned over the whole isle of Crete, but his power stretched even farther: all the Greek cities paid him a tribute.
For many years he was married to Pasiphae who bore him a lot of children.
As he was strict but fair, his subjects feared and respected him, and he neither favored his friends nor overpowered his adversaries.
